FAI4RPM
FAI is the
Fully Automatic Installation tool for debian like systems.
FAI4RPM is a special instruction set to install Red Hat RPM based
systems with FAI.
To save the original FAI source there is a different way to
start this system in.
News
-
FAI4RPM Version 0.2 is out! But there are many bugs with this
version too...
-
Oops - it's getting Python. Try to port the FAI core to Python
-
Think about porting it to s390.
-
What do you need
This system does not work at this time! If you like to get it work
you must do many things by your own. I worked on FAI4RPM for two days
only and it does not work the way it should...
You want to have...
- The original source of FAI
- The special RH
Files for FAI:
-
fai/fai_scripts/fai
which works as
startfile for FAI4RH
-
fai/install_rpm_root.pl
which initializes
the RPM database of the client
-
fai/install_rpms.pl
which does the
installation of all RPMS
-
fai/package_config/RPM_BASE
as a first
example of a RPM Package list.
-
fai/patch.setup_harddisk.pl
to fix a
problem with different sfdisk versions
-
fai/scripts/RH*
some RH compatible
cfengine scripts - these make the most trouble. So if you
are more firm with cfengine let me know...
- A running diskless system. On final phase there can be an
installation tool based on FAI to create the files on the server
- A runlevel (maybe Level 4?) only starting up S10network
S11portmap, and S25netfs
- Some entry in
/etc/inittab
like
fa:4:respawn:/path/to/fai
- Much time! As you can see
there is no documentation at this point for the RPM part. If you
want to help you are welcome...
If you do not know any of these things above then the actual version
is definitely nothing for you!
