Twenty-six of Fifteen Thousand destroyed Roma Homes in Kosovo
The tragedy of the Kosovo Roma has to be looked at from the perspective of personal suffering as well as material loss and its consequences. Nobody has assessed the property (houses, grounds, furniture, modern appliances, fixings, business equipment, stock, etc.) that was the result of decades of hard work. And so, the real amount of loss and destruction remains hidden. The Roma, who had laboured as migrant workers in Western European countries, transferred sums worth millions of Deutschmarks back to their home country and invested them there. Nothing has been heard about any attempt by NATO to even estimate compensation the Roma are entitled to receive.
